Oil Pan: Service and Repair




11 13 000 - Removing and installing or replacing oil sump (S85)





Recycling:
Catch and dispose of used oil in a suitable container.
Observe country-specific waste-disposal regulations.





Necessary preliminary tasks:
- Drain engine oil Engine Oil Service.
- Secure engine in installation position.
- Lower front axle.
- Remove ribbed V-belt Replacing Alternator Drive Belt.
- Release 4x transmission bolts.





Release screws (4).
Unfasten hose clip (3).
Remove hose (1).
Unfasten banjo bolt (2).

Installation:
Replace sealing rings.

Tightening torque: 11 36 3AZ 11 36 Variable Camshaft Control VANOS.





Unscrew nuts (1).
Release oxygen sensor holder (2), remove if necessary.





Release screw (1) on heat shield on left and right.
If necessary, remove crankshaft sensor.





Release screw (1) on heat shield on left and right.
Remove heat shield (2) on left and right.





Disconnect plug connection (2).
Disconnect plug connection (5).
Release cable from holders (1 and 4).
Release screw (5).





Detach cable from bracket (1).





Disconnect plug connection (1).
Detach cable from bracket (3).
Release screw (2).





Disconnect plug connection (3).
Release screws (1).
Remove VANOS pressure accumulator in direction of arrow.





Release screw (1).
Release screws (3).
Remove belt tensioner (2).





Release screw (1).





Release screw (1).





Note:
Illustration shows right return pump.
The procedure for the left return pump is identical.

Release screws (1).

Remove electric oil pump (2).

Installation:
Replace O-ring.













Replace oil sump gasket.
Assemble engine.
