Removal and Replacement
17 22 010 - Removing and installing/replacing heat exchanger for automatic transmission (N73)
Special tools required:
- 17 0 030 17 0 030 Pliers
Necessary preliminary tasks:
- Follow instructions for working on cooling system Instructions for Working on Cooling System.
- Drain coolant from radiator Service and Repair.
- Remove engine splash guard.
Recycling
Catch and dispose of drained coolant.
Transmission fluid emerges when oil lines are detached from heat exchanger.
Catch and dispose of escaping transmission fluid.
Observe country-specific waste-disposal regulations.
Note:
For SE Dynamic Drive.
Release nut and remove hydraulic hose (1) with holder from mounting.
Pull spring clamp (1) downwards.
Remove heat exchanger (3).
Unlock hydraulic lines (1 and 2) on heat exchanger (3) with special tool 17 0 030 17 0 030 Pliers and disconnect.
Installation Note:
Connect hydraulic line (2) with TOP marking to upper pipe of heat exchanger.

Caution!
Check fluid level in automatic transmission,
refer to Maintenance and General Information MG00.
Assemble engine.
Top up coolant and vent cooling system Venting Cooling System and Checking for Water Leaks.
