Trouble Code 4 (Engine Intervention)

ENGINE INTERVENTION
Explanation
This detect code is stored when the wire from the control unit Pin 4 has a break or is applied to ground for longer than 3 seconds. If the wire is applied to ground, this defect code is also stored in the Digital Motor Electronic (DME) control unit.

Effect of defect
The ignition timing can no longer be retarded by the DME control unit and consequently the torque is no longer reduced during gearshift. To protect the clutches from excessively long slip times (--> wear), gearshifts are only carried out at maximum pressure (--> hard gear shifts) at an earlier point (--> i.e. earlier upshift).

Possible Cause
Wire defective.

Troubleshooting
Perform component activation. Measure signal in accordance with text displayed on screen.
