Fluid Pan: Service and Repair






Oil Pan

Special tools, testers and auxiliary items required

Oil collecting and extracting device (V.A.G 1782)

Removing

Proceed as follows:

Risk of transmission damage.

Do not run engine or tow vehicle with oil pan removed or without transmission fluid.

Observe general repair notes. Refer to => [ Repair Instructions ] Repair Instructions.

Observe cleanliness rules when working on transmissions. Refer to => [ Clean Working Conditions ] Clean Working Conditions.

Risk of destroying electronic components when disconnecting the battery.

Observe measures for disconnecting battery.

- With ignition switched off, disconnect battery Ground (GND) cable.

- Drain transmission fluid. Refer to => [ Transmission Fluid, Changing and Filling ] Transmission Fluid, Changing and Filling.

- Remove nut - 1 - from oil pan and press bracket - A - upward.





- On vehicle with shield - A - at bottom of transmission, remove shield - arrows -.





Risk of destroying direct shift gearbox (DSG) mechatronic (J743) with static electricity.

Do not touch contacts in direct shift gearbox (DSG) mechatronic (J743) connector with hands.

- To discharge static, touch vehicle ground with hand (without glove).

- Disconnect electrical connector - 4 - on transmission by turning screw connection counterclockwise.





Ignore items - 1, 2, 3 -.

- Place Used Oil Collection and Extraction Device (V.A.G 1782) under transmission.

- Loosening oil pan bolts - arrows - in diagonal sequence.





- Remove oil pan with oil pan seal and let gear oil remaining in oil pan drain into Used Oil Collecting and Extracting Device (V.A.G 1782).

Installing

Tightening specification => [ Oil Pan Tightening Sequence ] Description and Operation

Installation is in reverse order of removal, note the following:

Replace oil pan seal and bolts.

Replace O-rings - arrows - on direct shift gearbox (DSG) mechatronic (J743) connector.





- Clean sealing surfaces; they must be free from oil or grease.

- Position oil pan with oil pan seal and tighten => [ Oil Pan Tightening Sequence ] Description and Operation





When positioning oil pan, ensure electrical wires are not pinched.

- Coat O-rings on direct shift gearbox (DSG) mechatronic (J743) connector with gear oil.

- Top off transmission oil. Refer to => [ Transmission Fluid, Changing and Filling ] Transmission Fluid, Changing and Filling and check oil level. Refer to => [ Transmission Fluid, Changing and Filling ] Transmission Fluid, Changing and Filling.

- Observe measures after connecting battery.
