Transverse Link with Mounting Bracket






Transverse Link With Mounting Bracket

Special tools, testers and auxiliary items required

Locating Pins (T10096)

Torque Wrench 5-50 Nm (V.A.G 1331)

Torque Wrench 40-200 Nm (V.A.G 1332)

Removing

- Remove the wheel.

- Remove the lower noise insulation. Refer to "Underbody Trim Panels and Heat Shields" In

- On vehicles with a level control system sensor, remove the nut from the linkage on the transverse link.






- Mark location of nuts - arrows - with felt-tip pen.






- Remove the nuts - arrows -.

- Pull wheel bearing housing with ball joint out of transverse link.

- Replace bolt - 1 - for left side, - 8 - for right side using (T10096) and tighten locating pins to 20 Nm.






(T10096) may only be tightened to a maximum of 20 Nm, since otherwise the threads of the locating bolts will be damaged.

- Remove the bolts - 1 -.






- Remove left side bolt - 15 - or right side bolt - 10 -.






It is necessary to remove the subframe on those vehicles where bolt - 15 - or - 10 - is not to be removed. Refer to => [ Subframe ] Subframe.

- Remove the transverse link.

Installing






Install in reverse order of removal. Note the following:

Tightening specifications, refer to => [ Subframe, Stabilizer Bar, Transverse Link, Ball Joint and Vehicle Level Sensor Overview ] Subframe, Stabilizer Bar, Transverse Link, Ball Joint and Vehicle Level Sensor Overview

- Install left side bolt - 15 - or right side bolt - 10 - and tighten by hand.

- Replace locking element after each removal. Refer to - Item 11 - => [ (Item 11) Locking Element ] Subframe, Stabilizer Bar, Transverse Link, Ball Joint and Vehicle Level Sensor Overview.

- Align nuts - arrows - according to markings made earlier and tighten.






Bonded rubber bushings can only be turned to a limited extent. Only tighten suspension screws when vehicle is in curb weight or control position.

Wheel bearing, lifting to curb weight position on vehicles with coil springs => [ Wheel Bearing, Lifting To Curb Weight Position ] Front Suspension

- Tighten left side bolt - 15 - or right side bolt - 10 - in curb weight position => [ Wheel Bearing, Lifting To Curb Weight Position ] Front Suspension.






- If the vehicle has electronic damping (Audi Magnetic Ride), then program the control position. Refer to vehicle diagnostic tester (order no).

- If the vehicle has automatic head lamp range control, then perform a basic setting on the headlamps.
