Front Engine Plate: Service and Repair
Sealing Flange, Belt Pulley Side
Special tools, testers and auxiliary items required
• Counter Support (3415)
• Assembly Tool (T10053)
• Hand drill with plastic brush attachment
• Protective eyewear
• Sealant, refer to the electronic parts catalog ETKA
Removing
- Toothed belt, removing. Refer to => [ Toothed Belt ] Toothed Belt.
- Remove the toothed belt crankshaft sprocket bolt using the (3415).
- Remove the bolt - 1 - and then remove the toothed belt sprocket crankshaft - 2 - and the diamond disc - 3 -.
- Remove the bolts - 1 through 11 -.
- Carefully pry up sealing flange.
- Remove the damper roller from the sealing flange, if necessary. Refer to => [ Toothed Belt Drive Overview ] Toothed Belt Drive Overview.
Installing
• Tightening specifications, refer to => [ Ribbed Belt Pulley Side Sealing Flange
- Tightening Specifications and Sequence ] Sealing Flange, Ribbed Belt Side Overview.
Installation is done is reverse order, observe the following:
Risk of contaminating lubrication system with sealant residue.
• Lay clean cloth over open part of oil pan.
- Carefully remove sealant residue on cylinder block and oil pan.
Risk of eye injury.
• Wear protective eyewear.
- Remove sealant residue on sealant flange, for example with a rotating plastic brush.
- Clean the sealing surfaces; they must be free of oil and grease.
• Note the expiration date of the sealing compound.
- Cut the tube nozzle at the front marking (nozzle diameter approximately 2 mm).
- Apply a thin bead of sealant - arrows - on edge between cylinder block and oil pan.
The lubrication system could be plugged with excess sealant.
• Do not apply sealant bead thicker than indicated.
- Apply the sealant bead - arrow - to the clean sealing surfaces of the sealing flange as shown in the illustration.
• Thickness of sealant bead: 2 to 3 mm.
- Lightly coat lower sealing surface - shaded - on sealing flange with sealant.
• The sealing flange must be installed within 5 minutes after applying the sealant.
- Carefully push the sealing flange onto the pins on the cylinder block.
• To install the sealing flange with installed seal, use the guide sleeve (T10053/1).
- Tighten the sealing flange. Refer to => [ Ribbed Belt Pulley Side Sealing Flange

- Install the crankshaft toothed belt sprocket. Refer to => [ Crankshaft Toothed Belt Sprocket, Removing

- Install toothed belt (adjust timing) => [ Installing (Adjusting
valve timing) ] Toothed Belt.
