Spoiler, Assembling

After painting, the spoiler of the TT RS is assembled from the components shown in the assembly overview.

The spoiler is not designed for disassembly.

Special tools, testers and auxiliary items required

Instant adhesive (AMV 195 KD 101)

Locking compound (D 000 006)

Cleaning solution (D 009 401 04)

2K-plastic-adhesive (D 180 KU2 A1)

3 hex socket screws M6 x 5.5 mm

Note the minimum curing time for the 2K-plastic-adhesive (D 180 KU2 A1).

Procedure






For the correct tightening specifications; refer to => [ Rear Spoiler Assembly Overview ] Spoiler - TT RS.

After painting, the spoiler of the TT RS is assembled with the components shown in the assembly overview.

Painted individual spoiler components.

- Place the spoiler base plate on a soft clean surface on the workbench.

- Remove the protective film on the attachment points - arrow -.

- Rotate the spoiler base plate.






The threaded pins point up.

- Clean the sealing cord recess with cleaning solution (D 009 401 04).

- Secure sealing cord - 1 - in the recess with instant adhesive (AMV 195 KD 101) - 2 -.

The start and end of the sealing cord must be in the back in the center of the spoiler base plate - arrow -.

Cut the ends of the sealing cord at an angle and glue the joint.

- Place the spoiler upper part on a soft clean surface on the workbench.






- Remove the protective film on the attachment points - arrow -.

- Clean all surfaces - arrows - that will later be in contact with double-sided adhesive tape with cleaning solution (D 009 401 04).






- Adhere double-sided adhesive tape - 1 - and - 3 - to the outside of attachment surface- 2 - on the left and right as shown in the figure.






- Screw in the hex socket screws with the dimensions - a - and - b - as centering pins in the 3 center mounting holes of the spoiler upper part.






Dimension - a - = approximately 9.8 mm

Dimension - b - = 5.5 mm.

- Place the spoiler center part on a soft clean surface on the workbench.






- Remove the protective films on the contact surfaces for the base plate.

- Roughen the contact surfaces for the base plate with sandpaper and clean with cleaning solution (D 009 401 04).

- Rotate the spoiler center part.






- Clean all surfaces that will later be in contact with double-sided adhesive tape with cleaning solution (D 009 401 04).

- Attach film - 1 - and double-sided adhesive tape - 3 through 6 - to spoiler center part - 2 - as shown in the figure.

- Rotate the spoiler center part with the upper part.






- Adhere ring-shaped films - arrows - to the attachment points.

- Remove all protective films of the double-sided adhesive tape and attach spoiler center part - 1 - via centering aids - 2 - to spoiler upper part - 3 -.






- Manually press the parts firmly together.

- Coat the screws including the collar with locking compound (D 000 006) and screw them in partially at the locations indicated by - arrows -.






- Tighten the screws from the inside to the outside. Remove the centering aids for this purpose.

- Position cap - 1 - on the double-sided adhesive tape on spoiler upper part - 2 -.






- Manually press the cap firmly on.

- Clean the base plate and spoiler-center part of the adhesion area- arrow - with cleaning solution (D 009 401 04).






- Position the spoiler center part with the upper part on the base plate and secure it on the left and right with two screws each - arrows -.






- Check the gap size - arrows - between spoiler base plate - 1 - and spoiler center part - 2 -, center if necessary.






- Tighten the screws - arrows - on the left and right with the specified torque. Refer to => [ (Item 22) Bolt ] Spoiler - TT RS






- Apply adhesive cartridges of 2K-plastic-adhesive (D 180 KU2 A1) on the spoiler-base plate opening - 1 -.






- Press glue into the bore hole until it comes out of the other bore hole - 2 -.

- Repeat the process on the opposite side.

Note that the minimum curing time is 3 hours.

The vehicle can only be used after the minimum curing time has elapsed.

- Use the glue cartridge from the installation kit to place an adhesive bead around the screw heads - arrows - of the left and right screws and spread.






- Apply an adhesive bead of 2K-plastic-adhesive (D 180 KU2 A1) with the glue from the installation kit between the markings - arrows - on the back of the spoiler base plate as shown in the figure.






- Position bridging connector - 2 - as shown in the figure between the markings - arrows - and manually press on it until the glue is firm.






Bridging wire - 1 - must point to the left in the direction of travel.
