Headlamp Range Control Positioning Motor (V48)/(V49), from MY 2012
Observe notes on contact corrosion. Refer to => [ Contact Corrosion ] Service Precautions.
• Headlamps must be adjusted after performing measures that could influence headlamp adjustment. Refer to => [ HID Headlamp, Adjusting ] HID Headlamp, Adjusting.
Removing
- Remove headlamp housings, refer to => [ Headlamp Housing ] Headlamp Housing.
- Remove the HID lamp, refer to => [ HID Headlamp Bulbs (L13)/(L14) ] HID Headlamp Bulbs (L13)/(L14).
- Counterhold from the inside and push the pin through to remove the pin - 1, 2 - with pliers from out of the headlamp housing.
- Remove the bolts through the openings - arrows -.
- Push the ball end of the positioning stem upward - arrow - and out of the ball end mount by swiveling the control motor while at the same time pushing the reflector - 3 - forward, to remove the headlamp range control positioning motor - 1 -.
- Remove the adjustment motor - 4 - from out of the headlamp housing - 5 -, as shown in the illustration.
- Disconnect the electrical connector - 2 -.
Installing
• Tightening specification, refer to => [ HID Headlamps Overview, from MY 2012 ] HID Headlamps Overview, From MY 2012.
Install in reverse order of removal. Note the following:
- When connecting the connector, install the adjustment motor.
• Insert the adjusting axle ball head into the reflector ball socket first from below while pulling the reflector back.
- Tighten the bolts.
- Close the opening in the headlamp housing - 1 - with the grommets - 2, 3 - from the repair kit. Refer to Electronic Parts Catalog (ETKA).
- Install the HID bulb. Refer to => [ HID Headlamp Bulbs (L13)/(L14) ] HID Headlamp Bulbs (L13)/(L14).
- Install the headlamp housing, refer to => [ Headlamp Housing ] Headlamp Housing.
