Rear Headrest Pop Rivet Nut

Special tools, testers and auxiliary items required

Pop Rivet Pliers (VAS 5072)

Drill

6.5 mm drill bit

Protective goggles

Removing






Follow the safety precautions for the rollover protection. Refer to => [ Rollover Protection Safety Precautions ] Rollover Protection Safety Precautions.

- Open the convertible top until the displayed position of the top and the convertible top compartment cover is reached.

- Support the convertible top with a suitable wood stick.

- Remove the rear head restraint. Refer to => [ Rear Headrest ] Rear Headrest.

- Coat the 6.5 mm drill with grease so that the drill shavings will stick to it.

Eye injury risk.

Wear protective goggles!

- Remove the old pop rivet nuts.

- Clean up any drill shavings with a vacuum cleaner.

Installing






- Rivet in the new pop rivet nuts using the (VAS 5072).

- Install the rear head restraints. Refer to => [ Rear Headrest ] Rear Headrest.

Follow the safety precautions for the rollover protection. Refer to => [ Rollover Protection Safety Precautions ] Rollover Protection Safety Precautions.

Installation is reverse of removal, but note the following:

Make sure no one is standing near the rollover protection when reconnecting the battery. Stand at least 1 meter away.

- Connect the Ground (GND) cable on the battery.

- ALWAYS perform an output diagnostic test under "Guided Functions" after repairing the rollover protection and only after all work procedures are completed (also if a new rollover protection was installed). Refer to the vehicle diagnostic tester.
