Left Convertible Top Compartment Enclosure Motor
• The convertible top compartment enclosure motor is installed on the left side only.
Removing
• Bracket for the convertible top compartment enclosure removed.
- Unclip the connector - arrow -.
- Remove the screws - 1 through 6 - and remove the cover.
- Remove the circlips - arrows - and remove the damper - 1 -.
- Remove the screws - 1 through 3 - and remove the cover.
- Remove the convertible top compartment enclosure motor. When doing this the tension on the drive wheel spring will be released.
• Depending on the date of manufacture, the motor is attached in different ways.
- Remove the motor according to the version:
• Remove the bolts - 1 - and - 2 -.
• Loosen the motor.
• Release the clip - 3 -.
Installing
- Tighten the screws - 3 - to attach the motor to the bracket.
- Install the spring - 2 - and drive wheel axle - 1 - in the bracket.
• The spring fits into the groove on the bracket.
- Mount the drive wheel onto the axle. The end of the spring must fit into the opening in the drive wheel.
• Press the drive wheel onto the axle just far enough so that the teeth still do not mesh with the teeth on the motor.
- Turn the drive wheel 360° three times clockwise - arrow A - to pretension the spring.
- Push the drive wheel all the way down - arrow B -.
• The teeth are now engaged.
- Hold the drive wheel in this position and secure it with tape - arrows -.
- Make sure the inner release lever - 3 - is installed correctly:
• The spring - 2 - must engage on the bracket.
• The tab - 1 - on the release lever must be positioned as shown in the illustration (below the release lever).
- Push the outer lever - 1 - in - direction of arrow A -.
- Push the lever - 2 - in direction of - arrow B -.
- Secure both levers in this position with tape - arrows -.
- Install the motor and mount into the bracket and tighten the screws - 1, 2 and 3 -.
- Remove the tape.
Further installation is performed in reverse sequence of removal, but observe the following:
- Guide the wire through the slot in the bracket.
