Special tools, testers and auxiliary items required

• Torque wrench (V.A.G 1332)

Removing






- Place the vehicle on a hoist.

- Remove the rear noise insulation - 2 -.

- Remove the bolts - 1 - and - 2 - and the diagonal brace.






Installing

Install in reverse order of removal. Note the following:

• The stamped edge on the diagonal brace near the bolt holes must be on the bolt head side.

• Pay attention to the tightening sequence and the pre-tightening specification.

Installed Position and Tightening Sequence






- Install the diagonal brace (- arrow - faces the direction of travel).

- First tighten the bolts to 5 Nm in sequence - 1, 2 and 3 - and then tighten them to the final tightening specification.
