Windshield Wiper Arms, Adjusting

Windshield Wiper Arms, Adjusting

Procedure

If the windshield wiper motor is to be run during the work procedure, the hood must be closed, otherwise the voltage supply of the wiper motor will be interrupted.

- Remove wiper arms, refer to => [ Windshield Wiper Arms ] Windshield Wiper Arms.

- Switch on ignition.

- Activate one-touch wiping and let wiper motor run to end position.

Every second time the wiper motor is switched off, it returns the wiper arms to a slightly lower rest position, thus tipping the wiper blade lips the other way.

To do so, the wiper motor moves the wiper arms farther down than to rest position and then a bit up again. This lower rest position must not be used to adjust the wiper crank.

Only use end position where wiper arms run directly end position with no understroke. Activate one-touch wiping again if necessary.

- Turn off the ignition.

- Position wiper arm with wiper blade installed at wiper axles and align wiper blade at windshield as follows:

Dimension - a - = 15 + 5 mm.

Dimension - b - = 45 + 5 mm.

The dimensions give the distance of the wiper blade tips to the plenum chamber cover on the lower edge of the windshield.

- Tighten wiper arm nuts in - 1, 2, 3 - sequence.

- Switch on ignition.

- Operate one-touch wiping and let wiper arms run to end position.

- Turn off the ignition.

- Check adjustment of wiper arms again, correct if necessary.
