Transmission Carrier and Console

Special tools, testers and auxiliary items required

Final drive support (T10337)

Engine/transmission jack (V.A.G 1383 A)

Removing

- On vehicles with air suspension, activate vehicle lifting mode.

- Raise vehicle.

- Remove screws and remove rear noise insulation - 2 -.





- Remove bolts - arrows - at particle filter bracket or left main catalytic converter bracket.





Vehicles with 4.2L FSI engine

- Remove bolts - arrows - at right main catalytic converter bracket.





All

- Mount engine/transmission jack (V.A.G 1383 A) thrust plate together with lower transmission support (T10337) on the transfer case.





- Lift transfer case slightly using the engine/transmission jack (V.A.G 1383 A).

There is the risk of an accident.

The engine/transmission jack (V.A.G 1383 A) may only be used during assembly and must not sit unsupervised under the vehicle.

- Remove transmission carrier bolts - 1 - and - 2 -.





- Lower transfer case slightly.

- Then, remove transmission support from transfer case bracket - arrows -.





- Remove bolts - 1 - and - 2 - and remove bracket from transfer case.

Installing

Installation is in reverse order of removal.

- On vehicles with air suspension, deactivate the lift mode.
