ATF Pipes for ATF Cooler with Clamping Connections

The ATF pipes are attached to the ATF either with union nuts or clamping connections depending on the date of manufacture.

Special tools, testers and auxiliary items required

Engine Bung Set (VAS 6122)

Hand saw, commercially available

Water pump pliers, commercially available

Electrical tape, commercially available

Procedure

To connect an ATF pipe with a union nut to a cooler with a clamping connection:

- Tape off the ATF pipe with electrical tape.






- Seal off the ATF pipe with a clean plug taken from (VAS 6122).






- Position the union nut in the center on the ATF pipe taped off with electrical tape.






- Secure the union nut in a vise.






- Saw about 2/3 into the union nut with the hand saw.






- Crack up the union nut with a screwdriver. When doing this, do not support the screwdriver on the ATF pipe.






- Bend the union nut with the water pump pliers - arrows - and remove it.
