Servotronic Solenoid Valve (N119)
Special tools, testers and auxiliary items required
• Torque Wrench (V.A.G 1783)
• Steering gear grease
Removing
Request values with vehicle diagnostic tester - item 17 - => [ (Item 17) ] Overhaul.
- With vehicles with air suspension, place vehicle on hoist. Refer to => [ Positioning Vehicle on Hoist and Wheels ] Positioning Vehicle on Hoist and Wheels.
- Only remove front noise insulation - 1 -.
- Always clean steering gear - 6 - in servotronic solenoid valve - 3 - area.
- Make sure that no dirt enters steering gear - 6 -.
- Separate connector - 8 -.
- Make sure no dirt enters the connector - 8 -.
- Remove bolts - 1 - and - 2 -.
- Remove servotronic solenoid valve - 3 - from steering gear - 6 -.
- Remove screen - 7 - from steering gear - 6 -, clean steering gear if necessary.
Installing
Install in reverse order of removal. Note the following:
- Insert a new screen - 7 -.
- Lightly coat gasket - 4 and 5 - with steering gear grease and insert. Place servotronic solenoid valve - 3 - in steering gear - 6 - as far as stop. Do not tilt servotronic solenoid valve when doing so.
• Always follow screw tightening sequence.
- Tighten bolts - 1 and 2 - as follows:
1. Tighten bolt - 1 - to 0.5 Nm.
2. Tighten bolt - 2 - to 1.5 Nm.
3. Tighten bolt - 1 - to 3.0 Nm.
4. Tighten bolt - 2 - to 3.0 Nm.
- On vehicles with air suspension, position vehicle on wheels. Refer to => [ Positioning Vehicle on Hoist and Wheels ] Positioning Vehicle on Hoist and Wheels.
