Drivers Side and Passenger Side Airbag Igniter N199 and N200, Standard Seat, Power Seat
Special tools, testers and auxiliary items required
• Vehicle Diagnosis Tester
Removing
• Follow all safety precautions when working on pyrotechnic components. Refer to => [ Restraint System Components, Safety Precautions and General Information ] Restraint System Components, Safety Precautions and General Information.
• Follow the additional safety precautions when working with the side airbag. Refer to => [ Side Airbag, Additional Safety Precautions ] Side Airbag, Additional Safety Precautions.
• Follow all regulations when disposing of pyrotechnic components. Refer to => [ Airbag, Belt Tensioner and Battery Cut-Out Units, Storage, Transporting and Disposal ] Airbag, Belt Tensioner and Battery Cut-Out Units, Storage, Transporting and Disposal.
- Turn on the ignition.
- Turn on the ignition and disconnect the ground cable from the battery.
- Remove the front seat.
• Mechanically adjustable seat, refer to => [ Driver Seat Assembly Overview ] Driver Seat Assembly Overview
• Memory seat, power seat and Comfort seat, refer to => [ Driver Seat Assembly Overview ] Driver Seat Assembly Overview.
- Mount the fixture for seat repair (VAS 6136) on the engine and transmission holder (VAS 6095).
- Attach the front seat to the fixture for seat repair (VAS 6136).
- Remove the seat backrest panel.

• Memory seat, power seat and Comfort seat, refer to => [ Backrest Cover Assembly Overview ] Backrest Cover Assembly Overview.
- Remove padding from backrest until screw - 1 - is reached. Refer to => [ Backrest Cover and Padding ] Backrest Cover and Padding.
- Remove the bolt - 1 - and remove the driver/passenger side airbag - 3 - from the side of the backrest using the hook - 2 -.
- Guide airbag cable - 4 - and remove the side airbag from the seat.
Installation
• Follow all safety precautions when working on pyrotechnic components. Refer to => [ Restraint System Components, Safety Precautions and General Information ] Restraint System Components, Safety Precautions and General Information.
Follow the additional safety precautions when working with the side airbag. Refer to=> [ Side Airbag, Additional Safety Precautions ] Side Airbag, Additional Safety Precautions.
Install in reverse order of removal. Note the following:
- Engage side airbag - 3 - in backrest with hooks - 2 -.
- Ensure that airbag cable - 4 - is routed correctly and secured.
• Make sure the connectors are installed all the way in and are secure.
• Make sure the wires do not get caught.
- Replace screw - 1 -.
- Tighten new screw - 1 - to the specification.
- Install the front seat.

Ignition must be on when connecting battery. If pyrotechnic components (for example, airbag, belt tensioner) are not repaired correctly, they may deploy unintentionally after connecting battery. Maintain personal safety when connecting the battery by staying out of airbag deployment areas, keeping a distance from belt tensioners/seat belts and ensuring no other people are in the vehicle interior at the moment when the battery is connected.
- Switch on ignition.
- Connect the battery ground cable with the ignition turned on.
- If the airbag indicator lamp (K75) indicates a fault after installation, the DTC memory must be checked, deleted and checked again. Refer to vehicle diagnostic tester.
Tightening Specifications
* Replace screw
