High Pressure Pump Overview






1 Bolt

• Tightening specification and sequence, refer to => [ High Pressure Pump - Tightening Specification and Sequence ]

2 High Pressure Pump

• With fuel metering valve (N290)

• Removing and installing, refer to => [ High Pressure Pump ] High Pressure Pump

• Do not disassemble

• If a new high pressure pump is installed, the opening near the fuel metering valve must be sealed with a sealing plug (shear bolt). Tighten the bolt till it is sealed

3 Connecting Piece

• 27 Nm

• Tighten one more time before installing the fuel supply line

• Tighten using a 14 mm open end spanner insert (V.A.G 1331/9)

4 Connecting Piece

• 27 Nm

• Tighten one more time before installing the high pressure line

• Tighten using a 14 mm open end spanner insert (V.A.G 1331/9)

5 High-Pressure Line

• 25 Nm

There is a risk of injury because the fuel is under very high pressure.

• Reduce the fuel pressure down to residual pressure before opening the high pressure area of the fuel injection system.

• Reduce the fuel pressure in the high pressure area. Refer to => [ Releasing Pressure in High Pressure Area ] Releasing Pressure In High Pressure Area.

• Removing and installing, refer to => [ High Pressure Line ] Service and Repair

• Do not change the shape of the line

• Check for damage before installing

• Counter hold the connecting pieces when loosening and tightening high pressure lines

• Coat the threads on the union nut with fuel.

6 Fuel Supply Line

• 25 Nm

Risk of injury from fuel.

• Before opening the fuel system, lay a clean cloth around the connection point and carefully loosen it, which lowers the pressure.

• Do not change the shape of the line

• Check for damage before installing

• Counter hold on the connection when loosening and tightening fuel supply line

• Coat the threads on the union nut with fuel.

7 Low Fuel Pressure Sensor (G410)

• 15 Nm

8 Bolt

• 9 Nm

9 Bracket

• For high pressure line

10 Gasket

• Replace

11 Housing

12 O-ring

• Replace

13 Camshaft Position (CMP) Sensor (G40)

• Removing and installing, refer to => [ Camshaft Position (CMP) Sensor (G40)/Camshaft Position (CMP) Sensor 2 (G163) ] Service and Repair

14 Bolt

• Tightening specification => [ (Item 1) Bolt ] Service and Repair

15 Threaded Pin

• 9 Nm

16 Nut

• 9 Nm

17 Protective Plate

• For high pressure line

18 Roller Tappet

• Can be installed in one position only

• Lubricate O-rings with clean engine oil before installing

19 O-ring

• Replace

• Lubricate O-rings with clean engine oil before installing

- Tighten bolts in 2 stages as follows:
