Headlamp Beam Adjustment Motor (V48)/(V49)

• Adjust the headlamps after performing any work that could have affected their adjustment => [ Headlamps, Adjusting ] Headlamps, Adjusting.

Removing






- Switch off ignition and remove ignition key.

- Turn light switch into "0" position.

- Remove headlamp, refer to => [ Headlamps ] Headlamps.

- Release locking slide - 2 - in - direction of arrow - and remove housing cover - 1 - from headlamp housing.

- Turn headlamp height adjustment screw - 1 - clockwise as far as stop.






• This guides lamp unit in headlamp into low position.

- Insert a screwdriver from behind into headlamp housing - arrow A - and press headlamp height adjusting screw up out of housing - arrow B -.

- Disconnect electrical connector - 1 -.






- Remove headlamp range adjustment positioning motor - 2 - by left headlamp clockwise - arrow - and by right headlamp counterclockwise.

- Disengage positioning motor from headlamp housing.

• Positioning motor axle should not be disengaged from headlamp

- Remove headlamp range adjustment positioning motor - 1 - toward rear with gentle force.






- While doing this, slowly turn headlamp height adjustment adjusting nut - 2 - with a screwdriver through adjustment screw hole until positioning motor axle can be removed gently from headlamp light unit ball joint - 3 -.

• Axle pins are then in ball joint cut-outs - arrows -.

- Remove headlamp beam adjustment motor out of headlamp housing.

- Remove adjustment nut - 2 -.

• Components are shown without headlamp housing to provide a better illustration.

Installing

Install in reverse order of removal, observing the following:

- Check whether ball joint - 3 - is inserted in headlamp light unit guide.

- Slide headlamp height adjustment nut - 2 - off ball joint.

• The outer splines face toward the motor.

- Pull headlamp light unit in headlamp housing toward back and hold it firmly.

- Audibly engage axle on range adjustment positioning motor in ball joint.

• The axle pins must engage in cut-outs on ball joint - arrows -.

- Line up the quick release on the headlamp range control positioning motor - 2 - on the headlamp housing.






- Engage positioning motor counterclockwise on left headlamp and clockwise on right headlamp.

• Ignore - arrow -.

- Connect electrical connector - 1 - on headlamp range adjustment positioning motor.

- Close the housing lid.

- Secure housing cover using locking slide.

- Install headlamp, refer to => [ Installing ] Headlamps.

- Adjust headlamps after installing, refer to => [ Headlamps, Adjusting ] Headlamps, Adjusting.
