Brake Shoes, Running-In on Brake Test Stand
• Running-in brake shoes for the parking brake must be performed on brake test stand approved for Audi vehicles.
When burnishing the brake shoes, the rear wheels may not be braked over the blocking limit using the parking brake.
The basic setting of the parking brake must be performed. Refer to => [ Parking Brake, Adjusting Basic Setting ] Parking Brake, Adjusting Basic Setting.
The free play on the parking brake lever must be adjusted correctly. Refer to => [ Pedal Parking Brake, Adjusting Free Play ] Pedal Parking Brake, Adjusting Free Play.
Proceed as follows:
• Drive the vehicle onto the roller.
• Do not turn off the engine. It must be possible to steer and brake the vehicle.
• Move the selector lever to N.
• Put the manual transmission in neutral the release the clutch pedal.
• Start the roller.
• Pull the parking brake lever and hold it so that it does not latch into a detent.
• With the handle pulled, apply the brakes to the rear wheel using the parking brake leer until the displays on the brake test stand appear. The rear wheels must not block.
• Hold the parking brake lever in this position and apply the brake shoes for approximately 30 seconds.
• Release the parking brake lever.
• Release the handle.
• Now the brake shoes are burnished on the brake drums.
- Free play of foot operated parking brake lever must be checked again. Refer to => [ Pedal Parking Brake, Adjusting Free Play ] Pedal Parking Brake, Adjusting Free Play.
