Oil Collecting and Extracting Device (V.A.G 1782)

Adapter for Oil Filling (VAS 6262 A)

If necessary, Adapter for Oil Filling (VAS 6262/6)

Adapter for Filling ATF Oil (VAS 6262/2)

Vehicle Diagnostic Tester

Original 1 liter ATF bottle; for the correct part number, refer to the Parts Catalog

Protective Goggles

Acid-Resistant Safety Gloves

Procedure

Danger of personal injury.

Wear protective goggles.

Wear acid-resistant safety gloves.

Keep a safe distance away from the coolant fan when working near it because the fan can turn on by itself.

There is an accident risk if a gear is accidentally engaged while the engine is running!

Before working on a running engine, move the selector lever into "P" and pull the parking brake button in order to set the electro-mechanical parking brake.

- Measure the length of the bleed pipe on the (VAS 6262 A). Shorten it if necessary => [ Measure the length of the bleed pipe on the. Shorten it if necessary. ] ATF Level Inside Transmission.

Test Conditions

The transmission must not be in the emergency running

The vehicle must be horizontal.

Selector lever in "P" and engine at idle

The Air Conditioning (A/C) and the heater are off.

At the start of the testing, the ATF temperature must not be higher than 30 °C (86 °F); let the transmission cool down.

The vehicle diagnostic tester reads the temperature of the ATF.

The ATF level will vary depending on the temperature of the ATF.

It is possible to overfill the ATF if the level is checked when the temperature is too low.

It is possible to under fill the ATF if the level is checked when the temperature is too high.

Only use the ATF available as a replacement part for the planetary gear in 8-speed automatic transmission 0C8. Other oils could cause malfunctions or damage to the transmission. A

Do not start the engine or tow the vehicle if there is no ATF in the transmission.

Too little or too much ATF will impair the transmission.

If the ATF coolant circuit from the ATF thermostat to the radiator was opened during a repair, this test must be performed two times. Important: The ATF must be at least 80 °C (176 °F) after the first check. Perform a road test with tester. Check the ATF level after it has cooled down as described.

Check the ATF Temperature.

- Connect the vehicle diagnostic tester and select the following menu item:

ATF, Checking Level and Correcting

The ATF level is checked at the ATF check hole.

The ATF level is correct if a small amount of fluid drips out of the check hole (this is normal because the fluid expands as it heats up) between 35 ° and 45 °C (95 ° and 113 °F) (for hot countries 50 °C (122 °F)).

- Drive the vehicle onto a 4-column hoist or over a service pit so that it is absolutely level.

- Remove the rear noise insulation - 2 -..

- Start the engine and let it run at idle.

- With engine idling depress the brake pedal and shift the selector lever through all the selector lever positions leaving the selector lever at least 10 seconds in each position.

- Place the (V.A.G 1782) under the transmission.

Test temperature 35 °C to 45 °C (95 ° and 113 °F)

- Remove the plug - 1 - in the ATF pan for checking the ATF level.

ATF flows out of the overflow pipe.

Even if the level of oil is too low, first a small amount will flow out of the overflow tubes, because it fills during operation.

The ATF inspection plug must be installed again before the ATF reaches a temperature of 45 °C (95 °F) (50 °C (122 °F) with hot climates).

If the ATF leaks from ATF check hole before temperature has reached 40 °C (104 °F), ATF level arrow is OK.

If no ATF drips out of the ATF check hole before 40 °C (104 °F) is reached, then the ATF level is not OK. Fill with ATF.

If ATF is OK:

- Replace the check plug gasket - arrow -.

- Tighten the ATF check plug - 1 - with a new gasket, tightening specification.

The ATF level test is now completed.

- Turn off the engine.

- Install the rear noise insulation..

Fill ATF

The (VAS 6262 A) must be clean and the ATF must not be mixed with another fluid!

- Shake before opening.

- Attach the ATF container to the (VAS 6262 A). Refer to the Parts Catalog.

Use adapter for (VAS 6262/6) if the threads on the container does not fit (VAS 6262 A).

- Let the ATF run into the transmission.

Check the ATF Level Several Time, if Necessary:

- Disconnect the quick-release coupling on the (VAS 6262 A).

ATF flows out of the overflow pipe.

If ATF leaks from the ATF check hole before temperature has reached 40 °C (104 °F), ATF level arrow is OK.

If no ATF drips out of the ATF check hole before the ATF reaches 40 °C (104 °F), then fill and check the ATF until the level is OK.

If ATF is OK:

- Let any excess ATF run out.

The ATF level is OK if it not possible to add more ATF.

Drained ATF may not be used again. Dispose of drained ATF properly.

- Replace the check plug gasket - arrow -.

- Tighten the ATF check plug - 1 - with a new gasket, tightening specification.

The ATF level test is now completed.

- Turn off the engine.

- Install the rear noise insulation..
