Fuel Delivery Unit, Suction Jet Pump and Fuel Level Sensor Overview






1 Fuel Level Sensor (G)

• Clipped in at retaining ring - 16 -

• Check the resistance values. Refer to => [ Fuel Level Sensor (G), Checking ] Fuel Level Sensor (G), Checking

• Removing and installing, refer to => [ Fuel Level Sensor (G) ] Fuel Level Sensor (G)

2 Fuel Delivery Unit

• With transfer Fuel Pump (FP) (G6)

• Checking transfer fuel pump electrically, refer to => [ Fuel Pump in the Fuel Tank, Checking, with Horizontal Fuel Filter ] Fuel Pump In the Fuel Tank, Checking, With Horizontal Fuel Filter

• Insert in the retaining ring - 16 - and turn 15° clockwise to engage (bayonet connection)

• Removing and installing, refer to => [ Fuel Delivery Unit and Transfer Fuel Pump ] Fuel Delivery Unit and Transfer Fuel Pump

• Fill the fuel tank with at least 5 liters of fuel.

3 Right Locking Flange

• Installed position => [ Bring the right locking flange into the installation position: ] Fuel Delivery Unit and Transfer Fuel Pump

4 Seal

• Replace

• Install dry

5 Locking Ring

• Tighten to 110 Nm.

• Use wrench (T10202) for removing and installing

6 Electrical Harness Connector

• For transfer FP (G6) and fuel level sensor (G)

7 Fuel Return Line

• From the fuel system cooler

• To disconnect, press release button on connection piece

• Do not kink

• Clipped in on fuel tank

8 Fuel Supply Line

• To fuel filter

• To disconnect, press release button on connection piece

• Do not kink

• Clipped in on fuel tank

9 Electrical Harness Connector

• For fuel level sensor 2 (G169)

10 Locking Ring

• Tighten to 110 Nm.

• Use wrench (T10202) for removing and installing

11 Seal

• Replace

• Install dry

12 Left Locking Flange

• Installed position => [ Bring the left locking flange into the installation position: ] Fuel Level Sensor 2 (G169)

13 Suction Jet Pump

• Clipped in at retaining ring - 14 -

• Removing and installing, refer to => [ Suction Jet Pump ] Suction Jet Pump

• Different versions; allocation, refer to the Parts Catalog

• Fill the fuel tank with at least 5 liters of fuel.

14 Retaining Ring

• Welded to fuel tank

15 Fuel Level Sensor 2 (G169)

• Clipped in at retaining ring - 14 -

• Check the resistance values. Refer to => [ Fuel Level Sensor 2 (G169), Checking ] Fuel Level Sensor 2 (G169), Checking

• Removing and installing, refer to => [ Fuel Level Sensor 2 (G169) ] Fuel Level Sensor 2 (G169)

16 Retaining Ring

• Welded to fuel tank

Locking Flange Cover - Tightening Specifications





- Tighten the nuts - 1 through 4 - to 9 Nm

Fuel Pump Control Module (J538) for Vehicles with a Horizontal Fuel Filter - Tightening Specification





• Installed location: In the front on the fuel tank above the exhaust system and the drive axle.

- Tight the bolts - 1 and 3 - to 3.5 Nm.
