C-Pillar Trim







C-Pillar Trim

Removing

- The wheel housing trim and belt anchor/seat belt of the C-pillar must be removed from the C-pillar. Refer to => [ Wheel Housing Liner Overview ] Wheel Housing Liner Overview.

Follow all safety precautions when working on pyrotechnic components.

To remove belt anchor screw on vehicles with fixed second row, remove the corresponding 2nd row seat.

Vehicles with vents in the C-pillar trim

- Carefully unclip vent - 1 - from the C-pillar trim starting at the upper side facing the headliner. Press spring clip - 2 -when doing so.






- Then remove the vent from C-pillar trim - 3 -.

Procedure for all vehicles

- Unclip cover cap - 5 - with Airbag symbol and remove screw - 4 -.

The cover cap hangs from the C-pillar trim and cannot be removed.

- Then remove second screw - 7 -.

- Remove the C-pillar trim from the mounts in the body and guide seat belt - 6 - through the trim opening.

Installing

Install in reverse order of removal. Note the following:

Follow all safety precautions when working on pyrotechnic components.

Check the C-pillar trim clips for damage or deformation, replace if necessary.

Ensure belt webbing is not twisted.

When installing trim, do not press belt height adjustment button.

During installation, attach trim from bottom upwards toward belt height adjuster.

- Remove locking compound residue from threaded screw holes. You can use a thread cutter to do so.

If threaded holes are not cleaned, there is the danger that new screws could seize up during installation and shear off when removed again.

- Guide seat belt - 2 - through C-pillar trim opening - 1 -.






To provide a better illustration, the right side of the vehicle is shown.

- Ensure that sliding piece mount - 3 - of the C-pillar trim engages in retaining pins - 4 - on the seat belt height adjuster.

- Clip C-pillar trim - 1 - on the rear side with the clamp - arrow A - into the mount in the body - arrow B -.

- The opposite side of the trim must be clipped into mount in body with clamps - arrow C -.

- Secure the C-pillar trim to the body with new screws and tighten them to the specified tightening torque.

- Clip in cover cap with Airbag symbol.

- The wheel housing trim and belt anchor must then be attached to the C-pillar. Refer to => [ Wheel Housing Liner Overview ] Wheel Housing Liner Overview.

Vehicles with vents in the C-pillar trim

- Engage the bottom side of the vent (knurled wheel side) in the C-pillar trim.

- Clip the top side of the vent in the C-pillar trim.

Procedure for all vehicles

- Draw the door seal lip over the C-pillar trim.

Ensure that the C-pillar trim is held securely.

- Check the function of the seat belt height adjuster.

The seat belt height adjuster must engage audibly in each of the possible positions.

Button must return to upper position by itself after being pressed.
