A-Pillar Upper Trim







A-Pillar Upper Trim

Special tools, testers and auxiliary items required

Trim Removal Wedge (3409)

Removing

Follow all safety precautions when working on pyrotechnic components.

Do not clamp the head curtain airbag when installing upper A-pillar trim - 1 -.

- Carefully unclip the cover cap with airbag symbol - 1 - from upper A-pillar trim - 2 -.






The cover cap remains hanging on the upper A-pillar trim and cannot be removed.

- Remove the bolt - 3 -.

- Carefully pry out upper A-pillar trim - 2 - beginning at the top using the (3409).

- Then remove the upper A-pillar trim from the instrument panel.

Installing

Install in reverse order of removal. Note the following:

Follow all safety precautions when working on pyrotechnic components.

Do not clamp the head curtain airbag when installing upper A-pillar trim - 1 -.

If trim clamps remain in body mounting points, remove these and insert them in trim.

Check clamps for damage or deformation, replace if necessary.

- Remove any locking compound residue from the threaded hole for the retaining screw in the upper A-pillar trim. You can use a thread cutter to do so.

If threaded hole is not cleaned, there is the danger that the new screw could seize up during installation and shear off when removed again.

- Insert upper A-pillar trim - 1 - in ribbed instrument panel ridge - 2 - in - the direction of the arrow -.






- Tip upper A-pillar trim - 2 - toward the body and clip in the clamps without clamping head curtain airbag - 5 -.






- Align hole in adapter - 4 - to threaded hole in body.

- Tighten screw - 3 - to tightening specification.

- Clip in cover cap - 1 - with the airbag symbol and draw door seal lip - 6 - over the upper A-pillar trim.
