Steering Column Overview
Vehicles with a Manual Adjustable Steering Column
1 Bolt
• 30 Nm
• Always replace if removed.
• The threaded hole for the bolt must always be cleaned (for example, using a thread tap).
• Install the bolt first, then pull on the steering intermediate shaft several time to make sure it is secure. Then tighten the bolt.
2 Steering Intermediate Shaft
• Removing and installing, refer to => [ Steering Intermediate Shaft ] Steering Intermediate Shaft.
• Pay attention to the installed position of the sealing boot.

7 Electronic Steering Column Lock Control Module (J764)
• Installed on vehicles with lock lock-up system
• Removing and installing, refer to => [ Electronic Steering Column Lock Control Module (J764) ] Electronic Steering Column Lock Control Module (J764).
• If the electronic steering column lock control module (J764) was replaced, the following work must performed see vehicle diagnostic tester. Select the program in "Guided Functions" and follow the prompts on the screen.

10 Steering Column
• There are different versions. For the correct allocation, refer to the Parts Catalog.
• Calibrate after replacing the steering column on a vehicle with dynamic steering. Refer to => [ Dynamic Steering Basic Setting ] Dynamic Steering Basic Setting.
• Removing and installing, refer to => [ Steering Column ] Steering Column.
• Check for damage. Refer to => [ Steering Column, Checking for Damage ] Procedures.

• Installed on vehicles with lock lock-up system

10 Steering Column
• Depending on the version of the steering (with or without dynamic steering) different versions of the steering columns are installed, refer to the Parts Catalog.
• If the steering column on a vehicle with dynamic steering was replaced, then the system must be recalibrated.
• Removing and installing, refer to => [ Steering Column ] Steering Column
• The actuator - item 13 - => [ (Item 13) Actuator ] has a "safety lock for the active steering" (locking magnet).
• Check for damage, refer to => [ Steering Column, Checking for Damage ] Procedures

13 Actuator
• Installed only in vehicle with dynamic steering
• Must not be loosened or removed from the steering column.
• The actuator - arrows - has a "safety lock for the active steering" (locking magnet).
14 Bolt
• 30 Nm
• Always replace if removed
• The threaded hole for the bolt must always be cleaned (for example, using a thread tap).
• Pull on the steering intermediate shaft to make sure it is installed correctly with the bolt installed. Tighten the bolt.
15 Bolt
• 4 Nm
• Quantity: 3
16 Protective Boot
• Align the positioning arrow to the "6 o'clock position".
