Air Ionization System Control Module (J897)
Removal
• Country version: Only in the Comfort version.
- Move the right front seat all the way forward.
- Remove the right B-pillar air guide. Refer to => [ Left and Right B-pillar Air Guide ] Left and Right B-Pillar Air Guide.
- Turn the ionizer - 3 - counterclockwise - arrow A - and pull it out of the mount.
- Expose the wiring harness - 2 -.
- If present, remove the adhesive strips.
- Release the retaining tab - 1 - - arrow B - and pull the Air ionization system control module - 4 - down out of the mount - arrow C -.
Installation
Installation is done in reverse order, observe the following:
• Odors in the air flowing by are neutralized at the ionizer.
• In the case of vehicles without an air improvement system, seal the installation opening in the air guide in an air-tight manner, for example, with adhesive tape.
- Replace the sealing ring at the ionizer if it is damaged or defective.
- Install the right B-pillar air guide. Refer to => [ Left and Right B-pillar Air Guide ] Left and Right B-Pillar Air Guide.
After completion of the repair work, perform the following work on the control head using the Vehicle Diagnostic Tester in the "Guided Fault Finding" function:
- Read out the event memory and erase any displayed entries.
