Cabin Ventilation Duct: Testing and Inspection






Passenger Compartment Forced Air Extraction, Checking

Check the ventilation slits in the luggage compartment






- Check the left and right air guide through the ventilation slits - arrow - in the luggage compartment side trim - 1 -.

Closed or blocked air guides to the vent frames of the forced air extractor can cause the windows to fog up.

Different version and arrangement. The figure shows an Audi A7.

In the Audi A6 sedan, forced air extraction is performed via 2 ventilation grilles - 1 - in the rear shelf, openings in the luggage compartment rear wall - 2 - and the luggage compartment side trim on the left and right - 3 - to the vent frames of the forced air extractor.






In the Audi A6 Avant, forced air extraction is performed through ventilation openings in the luggage compartment side trim in the area of the rear side windows.

Check forced air extraction vent frames from inside






Stuck sealing lips can cause the windows to fog up.

The sealing lip in the vent frame must be able to move freely and close automatically.

Closed or blocked air ducts to the vent frames can cause the windows to fog up.

- Open the lid of the luggage compartment side trim.

If there is no lid in the luggage compartment side trim on one side in certain versions, remove this luggage compartment side trim for a check as necessary.

- If present, remove the upper cover - 1 - from the vent frame - 2 -.

- Release the cover on the side - arrow - and remove.

- Check the vent frame - 2 - for flow and check the sealing lips - 1 - for proper functioning.






- To ensure proper ventilation of the passenger compartment, the ventilation openings in the luggage compartment must not be closed.






- The air - arrows A - must be able to flow through the ventilation openings - 1, 2 - in the luggage compartment side trim under the cover - 3 - to the vent frame of the forced air extractor toward the outside - arrows B -.
