Backrest Cover with Backrest Cushion, Super Sport Seat

Special tools, testers and auxiliary items required

• Pry lever (80 - 200)

Removing

• Follow all safety precautions when working on pyrotechnic components. Refer to => [ Pyrotechnic, Electrical and Mechanical Restraint System Components, Safety Precautions and Testing Procedures ] Testing and Inspection.

• Before handling pyrotechnical components (for example, disconnecting the connector), the person handling them must "discharge static electricity". For example, by briefly touching the door striker pin.

- Remove the front seat. Refer to => [ Power Standard Seat/Sport Seat/Super Sport Seat ] Power Standard Seat/Sport Seat/Super Sport Seat.

- Attach front seat to the fixture for seat repair (VAS 6136). Refer to => [ Installing Front Seat on Fixture for Seat Repair VAS 6136 ] Installing Front Seat on Fixture For Seat Repair VAS 6136.

- Remove the backrest cover => [ Backrest Cover ] Backrest Cover.

- Remove backrest. Refer to => [ Backrest ] Backrest.

- Vehicles with Rear Seat Entertainment: remove the mount for the Rear Seat Entertainment. Refer to => [ Rear Seat Entertainment Mount ] Rear Seat Entertainment Mount.

- Remove the backrest cover clips - 2 - from the backrest frame using a pry lever (80 - 200).






- Detach the rear moldings - 1 - from the backrest frame.

- Detach the rubber strap - 1 - from the backrest frame.






- Detach the rear moldings - 2 - from the backrest frame.

- Carefully pull backrest cover as far forward as possible with backrest cushion - 1 - in the area of the side airbag.






- Remove the screw - 2 -.

- Disengage the side airbag - 3 - from the backrest frame with the hook - arrow -.

- Disengage the side airbag from the cushion protection and engage it again in the backrest frame.

- Reach under the backrest cushion from the back of the backrest and find the release button - 3 -.






- Press the release button for the headrest guide - 2 - and hold it.

- Remove the backrest cover and backrest cover - 1 - with the foam filled headrest upward from the backrest frame - arrow - with a second technician.

- Remove the backrest cover and backrest cushion upward and off the backrest frame while removing the backrest heating wiring harness.

Installation

Install in reverse order of removal. Note the following:
