Seat Forward/Back Adjustment Motors V28 and V31

Driver seat forward/back adjustment motor (V28) / front passenger seat forward/back adjustment motor (V31)

Removing

• Follow all safety precautions when working on pyrotechnic components. Refer to => [ Pyrotechnic, Electrical and Mechanical Restraint System Components, Safety Precautions and Testing Procedures ] Testing and Inspection.

• Before handling pyrotechnical components (for example, disconnecting the connector), the person handling them must "discharge static electricity". For example, by briefly touching the door striker pin.

- Move front seat to the highest position possible to keep the torsion bar tension as low as possible.

- Remove the front seat. Refer to => [ Power Standard Seat/Sport Seat/Super Sport Seat ] Power Standard Seat/Sport Seat/Super Sport Seat.

- Remove the seat position sensor on the lower seat frame. Refer to => [ Driver Seat Position Sensor and Front Passenger Seat Position Sensor G553/G554, Vehicles with Seat Occupied Sensor for Belt Fastening Detection ] Drivers and Front Passenger Seat Position Sensors G553/G554, Vehicles With Seat Occupied Sensor For Belt Fastening Detection.

- Unclip the electrical wire from the seat pan lower frame and set aside.

- Disconnect the electrical connector on the seat forward/back adjustment motor.






- Unclip modular wire routing bracket on the seat pan lower frame.

- Remove the bolts - 4 -.

- Detach retaining plate - 3 - on the seat pan lower frame - arrow - and remove.

Danger of damaging the threaded holes or the bushing in the bearing points (connecting the upper/ lower frame).

• A second technician is needed to be pushing on the seat via the backrest while removing the following screws.

- Remove screws - 1, 5, 6 -.

- Remove upper frame - 2 - from the lower frame - 7 -.








Risk of damage to the bushings - 1 - in the bearing points - 2 - (upper/lower threaded connection).

• The bushings cannot be replaced with workshop materials.

• If the bushings are damaged, the corresponding assembly parts must be replaced.

Installation

• Before handling pyrotechnical components (for example, connecting electrical connector), the person handling them must "discharge static electricity". For example, by briefly touching the door striker pin.

• Check the safety ground lock for ease of movement. Refer to => [ Checking Safety Ground Lock for Ease of Movement ] Checking Safety Ground Lock For Ease of Movement.

• Observe all measures when installing the front seat. Refer to => [ Power Standard Seat/Sport Seat/Super Sport Seat ] Power Standard Seat/Sport Seat/Super Sport Seat.

Install in reverse order of removal. Note the following:
