Rear Lid, Adjusting







Rear Lid, Adjusting

Special tools, testers and auxiliary items required

Adjustment gauge (3371)






Gap Dimensions






Dimension - A - = 4.0 mm +/- 0.5 mm

Dimension - B - = 6 mm +/- 0.5 mm

Dimension - C - = top and bottom 2.2 mm.

Dimension - D - = top and bottom 2 mm.

Dimension - E - = 5 mm+/- 0.5 mm

Dimension - F - = 5.5 mm +/- 0.5 mm

Adjusting using the end plate

- Remove the rear lid end panel trim panel.

Before adjusting, install adjusting buffer on rear lid side completely, refer to => [ Adjusting Screw for Adjusting Buffer ].

The rear height can be adjusted by sliding the end plate - 2 -.






- Tighten the nuts - 2 - by hand.

- Close the rear lid and check the position.

- Rear lid lock must be engaged in main detent (2nd lug) during this.

- Open the rear lid - 1 - and adjust the end plate if necessary.

- Tighten the nuts to the tightening specification. Refer to => [ (Item 7) Nuts ] Rear Lid Assembly Overview.






- Turn adjusting buffer - arrow - until closed rear lid with stop buffer on rear lid side makes contact with stop.

- Check whether rear lid still closes easily, repeat adjustment at adjusting buffer if necessary.

- If rear lid is difficult to close, tighten the adjusting buffer slightly.

1 Rear lid

When adjusted correctly, adjusting buffer - 3 - must contact stop buffer - 2 - with light pretension when rear lid is closed.

2 Stop, rear lid side

Installing => [ Rear Lid Side Stop ]

Tighten screws to 8 Nm when installing.

3 Adjustment buffer, body side

Adjustment buffer secured on body-side with bolts

Tighten screws to 8 Nm when installing.

Height adjustment is carried out using adjusting screw

When rear lid is adjusted correctly, adjusting buffer must make contact with light pre-tension with stop on rear lid side.

4 Side panel

- Before adjusting rear lid, install adjusting screw - 2 - with protective cap - 1 - completely in adjusting buffer - 3 -

- Remove the adjusting screw - 2 - just enough until the cap - 1 - makes contact with light pre-tension with stop on rear lid side when the rear lid is closed.

- Check whether lid sits without play and in flush position by pushing or pulling on the side edge of rear lid below rear window.

- Repeat the adjustment if necessary.

Rear Lid Side Stop





- Tighten the - 2 - bolt - 1 - to the tightening specification when installing the stop => [ (Item 6) Bolt ] Rear Lid Assembly Overview.

- Height adjustment is carried out using adjusting buffer on body side.
