Radiator and Coolant Fan Overview

Radiator and Coolant Fan Overview

Risk of scalding due to hot steam and hot coolant.

The coolant system is under pressure when the engine is warm.

Reduce pressure by covering coolant reservoir cap with a cloth and carefully opening.

Danger of personal injury due to the coolant fan turning on by itself.

Disconnect the connectors before working near the fan shroud.

Secure all hose connections using hose clamps appropriate for the model. Refer to the Parts Catalog.

The hose clip pliers (V.A.G 1921) or hose clip pliers (VAS 6340) are recommended for installing spring clamps.

Always replace gaskets and seals.

The arrows on the coolant pipes and ends of coolant hoses must align.
