A-Pillar Upper Trim







A-Pillar Upper Trim

Removing and installing is identical for the left and right sides.

Special tools, testers and auxiliary items required

Removing






Follow all safety precautions when working on pyrotechnic components.

- Carefully unclip cap - 1 - with the "Airbag" symbol from the upper A-pillar trim using a screwdriver.

- Remove the screw - 2 -.

- Carefully unclip upper A-pillar trim - 3 - beginning at the top using a (3409) - arrow A -.

- Pull the upper A-pillar trim out of the instrument panel - arrow B - and remove.

Installing

Follow all safety precautions when working on pyrotechnic components.

Do not pinch the head curtain airbag when installing the upper A-pillar trim.

Install in reverse order of removal. Note the following:

If the trim clamps remain in the body mounting points, remove them and insert them in the trim.

Check clamps for damage or deformation, replace if necessary.

- Remove any locking compound residue inside the threaded hole for the upper A-pillar trim bolt using a thread tap.

If the threaded hole is not cleaned, the new bolt could seize up during installation and shear off when removed again.

- Install the upper A-pillar trim - 1 - into the instrument panel mount - 2 - and the front sill panel trim in the direction of the - arrow -.






- Clip the upper A-pillar trim in and stretch the door seal lip over.
