Transmission Oil Pump

Removing


Risk of transmission damage.

• Do not run engine or tow vehicle with oil pan removed or without transmission fluid.

• Refer to => [ Repair Information ] 02EA Transmission.

• Refer to => [ Clean Working Conditions ] Clean Working Conditions.

• The paper seal between the transmission fluid pump and transmission must always be replaced.

• Always replace the transmission fluid pump cover.

- Drain gear oil, Refer to => [ Transmission Fluid, Replacing or Filling after Repair ] Transmission Fluid, Replacing or Filling After Repair and leave used oil collecting and extracting device (V.A.G 1782) below.

- Remove the left front wheel housing liner.






• Depending on the version, different wheel housing liner may be installed.

- Remove the bolts - arrows - and remove the transmission fluid pump cover - A - while letting the gear oil remaining in cover drain into (V.A.G 1782).






- Remove bolts - arrows - and remove transmission oil pump - 1 -.






Installing

Install in reverse order, paying attention to the following:

Tightening specifications

• Transmission oil pump cover - tightening specification and sequence => [ Transmission Oil Pump Cover - Tightening Specification and Sequence ] Oil Pan, Mechatronic and Transmission Fluid Pump Overview.

• Transmission oil pump - tightening specification and sequence => [ Transmission Oil Pump - Tightening Specification and Sequence ] Oil Pan, Mechatronic and Transmission Fluid Pump Overview

•

• Replace bolts that are tightened to the specification.

• Replace the cover bolts for transmission fluid pump.

• Replace seal - B - and transmission oil pump cover.






- Check whether alignment pins - C - are inserted in transmission housing.

- Slide transmission oil pump input shaft - A - into transmission as far as stop by turning shaft slightly.

• If transmission oil pump input shaft - A - is inserted correctly, dimension - a - = approximately 23 mm.






- If there are metal shavings on sensor wheel - B -, remove shavings, but sensor wheel must not be demagnetized.

- Remove paper seal between transmission oil pump and transmission.

- Remove rest of paper seal and clean inside of transmission.

- Clean sealing surfaces; they must be free from oil or grease.

- Insert new paper seal between transmission oil pump and transmission, secure with gear oil if necessary.

- Place transmission oil pump - 1 - on input shaft and tighten. Transmission oil pump - tightening specification and sequence => [ Transmission Oil Pump - Tightening Specification and Sequence ] Oil Pan, Mechatronic and Transmission Fluid Pump Overview.






- Clean transmission oil pump cover sealing surface on transmission housing.






- Position transmission oil pump cover - A - and tighten. Transmission oil pump cover - tightening specification and sequence => [ Transmission Oil Pump Cover - Tightening Specification and Sequence ] Oil Pan, Mechatronic and Transmission Fluid Pump Overview.

- Top off transmission oil and check oil level. Refer to => [ Transmission Fluid, Replacing or Filling after Repair ] Transmission Fluid, Replacing or Filling After Repair.
