Selector Mechanism Emergency Release From Park, With Stationary Selector Lever Cover, Activating

Selector Mechanism Emergency Release from Park, with Stationary Selector Lever Cover, Activating

The selector lever lock solenoid (N110) locks the selector lever in the position "P". The selector lever can shifted out of "P" with "ignition on" or motor start, separate brake pedal and pressed button on the selector lever head. Refer to => [ Selector Mechanism, Checking ] Selector Mechanism, Checking.

If voltage supply to selector lever lock solenoid is missing (battery discharged, fuse faulty) or the solenoid is faulty, the selector lever cannot be shifted out of the "P" position. For example, the vehicle cannot be moved because the parking lock is engaged.

If this is not the case:

- Check fuses.

- Check the battery voltage.

If the selector lever still cannot switch out of "P", the emergency release of the solenoid must be executed. If the selector lever is then switched back into "P", this is locked again in the position "P".

Procedure

- Turn off the ignition.

- Open the ashtray in the center console.

- Remove the cover for the selector lever - arrows -.

When removing the cover, make sure that it is not scratched or damaged.

- Use the screwdriver from the vehicle tools carefully into the opening (pin eye) in a sideways manner on the cover - arrow -.

- Use a screwdriver - 1 - to release the shift lock solenoid - A -.

- Use the screwdriver to press the lever - B - inwards - arrow - and hold it in this position. The solenoid releases the selector lever.

The selector mechanism function unit can only be replaced complete. This means if components of the selector mechanism function unit are damaged, it must be completely replaced.

- Now press the button on the selector lever head with released solenoids and shift the selector lever out of "P".

If the selector lever is not switched back into "P", the solenoid for the shift block will be automatically blocked in the position "P". The solenoid must be released again.
