Wheel Bearing Housing, Wheel Bearing Unit, Trailing Arm with Mounting Bracket and Stone Deflector Overview
1 - Bolt
• 50 Nm + 45° turn
• Always replace.
2 - Mounting Bracket
3 - Bolt
• 90 Nm + 90° turn
• Always replace.
4 - Expanding Rivet
5 - Stone Protection Plate
• Removing and installing, refer to => [ Stone Guard ] Stone Guard.
6 - Coupling Rod
• During start of production, coupling rods with two ball joints were revised to coupling rods with one ball joint and a bonded rubber bushing. The side with the bonded rubber bushing is attached to the stabilizer bar. Do not install both types together.
7 - Bolt
• 90 Nm + 45° turn
• Always replace.
8 - Trailing Arm
• Removing and installing, refer to => [ Trailing Arm with Mounting Bracket ] Trailing Arm With Mounting Bracket.
9 - Drive Axle
• Do not let the drive axle hang down. The inner joint could be damaged if it is bent too far.
10 - Bolt
• 70 Nm + 90° turn
• Always replace.
11 - Wheel Bearing Housing
• Different versions: Aluminum and steel, interchanging with an aluminum wheel bearing housing is permitted. Allocation, refer to the Electronic Parts Catalog (ETKA).
• Only aluminum wheel bearing housings are available as a replacement part. Therefore, when replacing, certain parts must be also be replaced and installed as well. Refer to => [ Wheel Bearing Housing ] Wheel Bearing Housing.

12 - Wheel Speed Sensor
13 - Bolt
• 8 Nm
14 - Bonded Rubber Mount
• Replacing, refer to => [ Wheel Bearing Housing Bonded Rubber Bushing ] Wheel Bearing Housing Bonded Rubber Bushing.
15 - Nut
• 45 Nm
• If the coupling rod has a ball joint and bonded rubber bushing, then tighten the bolt in the curb weight position. Refer to => [ Rear Suspension, Lifting to Curb Weight Position ] Rear Suspension, Lifting to Curb Weight Position. Otherwise the bonded rubber bushing will be distorted, resulting in reduced service life. Install the bolt from the outside toward the inside.
16 - Bolt
• 4 Nm
17 - Brake Disc
18 - Dust Cap
• Not on AWD vehicles.
19 - Bolt
• Always replace if removed.
• There are different versions. Allocation, refer to the Electronic Parts Catalog (ETKA).
• Hex bolt: 200 Nm +180° turn. Loosening and tightening, refer to => [ Drive Axle Hex Bolt Connection, Loosening and Tightening ] Drive Axle Hex Bolt Connection, Loosening and Tightening.
• Twelve-point bolt with ribs: 70 Nm + 90° turn. Loosening and tightening, refer to => [ Drive Axle Twelve-Point Bolt with Ribs, Loosening and Tightening ] Drive Axle Twelve-Point Bolt With Ribs, Loosening and Tightening.
• Twelve-point bolt without ribs: 200 Nm + 180° turn. Loosening and tightening, refer to => [ Drive Axle Twelve-Point Bolt without Ribs, Loosening and Tightening ] Drive Axle Twelve-Point Bolt Without Ribs, Loosening and Tightening.
• Before installing, clean the threads in the CV joint with a tap.
20 - Wheel Bearing Unit
• The ABS sensor ring is installed in the wheel bearing unit.
• Removing and installing, refer to => [ Wheel Bearing Unit ] Wheel Bearing Unit.
• The wheel bearing unit is maintenance free and has zero play. Adjusting or servicing is not possible!
