Differential Pressure Sensor (G505)

Differential Pressure Sensor (G505)

The differential pressure sensor is connected by two pipes to the measuring locations in front of and behind the particulate filter. Heated Oxygen Sensor (HO2S) assembly overview, refer to => [ Heated Oxygen Sensor (HO2S) (G39) and Exhaust Gas Temperature Sensors Overview ] Heated Oxygen Sensor (HO2S) (G39) and Exhaust Gas Temperature Sensors Overview

The differential pressure sensor determines the particulate filter load level.

Removing

- Remove engine cover. Refer to => [ Engine Cover ] Service and Repair.

- Disconnect the connector - 2 - on the differential pressure sensor.

- Remove the bolt - 3 - and then remove the differential pressure sensor from its mount - arrow -.

- Remove the clamps on both hoses.

- Spray the hoses from the differential pressure sensor with thinner before removing.

- Pull the hoses straight off the connections to remove. The connections break off of the pressure sensor very easily.

Installing

- Note the following when installing:

Tightening specifications, refer to => [ Heated Oxygen Sensor (HO2S) (G39) and Exhaust Gas Temperature Sensors Overview ] Heated Oxygen Sensor (HO2S) (G39) and Exhaust Gas Temperature Sensors Overview

Before installing, clean the control lines leading from the differential pressure sensor to the particulate filter with compressed air to make sure they are not plugged or iced over with condensation water.

Check for secure fit and leaks.

If the particulate filter pressure lines were removed, tighten them to 45 Nm.

It is necessary to perform an adaptation after replacing the differential pressure sensor and or the particulate filter and the adaptation values must be reset. The adapting is described in Guided Fault Finding or Guided Functions. Use the vehicle diagnosis tester for this.
