Fuel Pump Delivery Rate, Checking
Special tools, testers and auxiliary items required
• Measuring container, fuel-resistant
Test conditions:
• Battery voltage at least 12.5 Volts
• Fuel filter OK.
• Fuel tank at least 1/2 filled.
• Ignition switched off
Fuel Delivery, Checking
- Remove engine cover. Refer to => [ Engine Cover ] Service and Repair.
- Remove the noise insulation from the cylinder head cover.
• Follow the guidelines for a clean working environment when working on the fuel system. Refer to => [ Fuel System ] Fuel System.
• Always follow these rules before and during work.
• Before opening the fuel system, lay a clean cloth around the connection point and carefully loosen it, which lowers the pressure.
- Remove the fuel supply line - arrow - from the high pressure pump.
- Hold the fuel supply line - 1 - inside the measuring container - 2 -.
- Connect a vehicle diagnosis tester.
- Switch ignition on.
- Select "engine electronics" in OBD.
- Then select "basic setting".
- Select "display group 35".
- Press the "activate" button.
- The fuel pumps start.
- Let the fuel pumps run for 15 seconds and then stop the activating.
• Specified value within 15 seconds: 500 ml minimum
If minimum delivery quantity is not obtained, the following malfunctions may be present:
• 15 seconds not reached
• Fuel lines pinched
• Fuel filter clogged
• Fuel pumps faulty: Check
• Check fuel system for leaks.
