Air Door Cable: Service and Repair






Temperature Adjustment Cable

Temperature adjustment Bowden cable is present only on vehicles without A/C system. On vehicles with A/C system, a motor moves the temperature door.

Base plate - C - is different between vehicles without A/C system (with a control for Bowden cable to temperature door - E -) and with manually regulated A/C system (without a Bowden cable control - E -). Refer to Electronic Parts Catalog (ETKA).






Removing

- Bring rotary switch for temperature preselect - A - into position "cold stop".






- Remove heater controls ( heater control module (J65) ). Refer to=> [ Heater Controls ] Heater Controls.

- Remove the instrument panel and the instrument panel crossmember (central tube).

To prevent the instrument panel shell from damage, instrument panel should be placed on a clean work bench which is covered with clean cardboard.

- Disengage lug - D - of Bowden cable sheath - E - and remove Bowden cable sheath from mount of base plate for heater controls.






- Disengage ball on Bowden cable - F - from operating lever - G -

- Disengage support bracket - A - of Bowden cable sheath - E - and remove Bowden cable sheath from heater guide - C -.






- Disengage ball on Bowden cable - B - from temperature door lever.

Installing

Installation is carried out in the reverse order while noting the following:

- Only install a Bowden cable which has not been kinked and can move easily in Bowden cable sheath.

- Do not kink Bowden cable.
