Axle Oil Level, Checking and Filling

Special tools, testers and auxiliary items required

Oil Collecting and Extracting Device (V.A.G 1782)

Protective goggles

Observe cleanliness rules when working on transmissions, refer to => [ Clean Working Conditions ] 02EA (S-Tronic) Transmission.

Procedure

Move vehicle onto a 4-column lifting platform or over a work pit so that it stands absolutely horizontal.

Place selector lever in position "P", engage the parking brake.

The engine is off.

- Remove the noise insulation - 1 -. Refer to "Underbody Trim Panels and Heat Shields".






- Place the (V.A.G 1782) under the transmission.

Risk of injury due to hot axle oil.

Wear protective goggles.

Wear protective gloves.

- Remove oil filler hole plug - B -.






Specified value: axle oil level up to bottom edge of oil filler hole.

- Fill if the axle oil level is too low. For the correct part number, refer to the Electronic Parts Catalog (ETKA).

Assembling

Install in reverse order, paying attention to the following:

Tightening specification, refer to => [ Flange Shaft, Seals and Bracket on Bevel Box Overview ] Description and Operation.

Replace the oil filler hole drain plug.

- Install the noise insulation. Refer to "Underbody Trim Panels and Heat Shields".
