Ball Bearing, Transmission Output Shaft with Splines

Special tools, testers and auxiliary items required

• Thrust Plate (VW 401)

• Thrust Plate (VW 402)

• Thrust Disc (VW 412)

• Press Tube (2040)

• Tube 60 mm Dia. (VW 415 A)

Procedure

- Remove the center differential housing => [ Center Differential Housing, Transmission Installed ] Service and Repair.

- Remove the locking ring - A - on the transmission output shaft and the ball bearing locking ring - B -.





- Remove the transmission output shaft and the transmission output shaft seal from the center differential housing. Refer to => [ Transmission Output Shaft with Splines ] Transmission Output Shaft With Splines.

- Remove the transmission output shaft ball bearing.





- Install the transmission output shaft ball bearing.





• The shoulder on the (VW 415 A) - arrow - faces the (VW 412).

- Install the ball bearing locking ring - B -.





• Ignore - A -.

- Install the transmission output shaft seal and the transmission output shaft with splines into the center differential housing. Refer to => [ Transmission Output Shaft with Splines ] Transmission Output Shaft With Splines.

- Install the center differential housing. Refer to => [ Center Differential Housing, Transmission Installed ] Service and Repair.

- Fill gear oil in transfer case. Refer to => [ Transfer Case Gear Oil, Draining and Filling ] Transfer Case Gear Oil, Draining and Filling.
