Charge Air Cooler
Removing
• If there are small impressions on the fins. Refer to => [ Coolers, Condensers and Charge Air Coolers, Installing ] Coolers, Condensers and Charge Air Coolers, Installing.
- Open the hook - arrow A - with a screwdriver - 1 -.
- Remove the air grille - 2 - from the bumper cover - arrow B -.
- Repeat the procedure on the other side of the vehicle.
- Remove the front noise insulation - 1 -.
- Remove the bolts - 1 - and - 2 - and remove the bumper cover noise insulation toward the rear.
- Remove the spreader clips - arrows - carefully push the pin - 1 - into the spreader clip - arrow A - to dimension - x -.
• Dimension - x - = 5 mm.
- Remove the spreader clip - 2 - and the pin.
- Lift the lock carrier cover - 3 - and hang it on the radiator grille.
- Remove bolts - arrows -.
- Remove the air duct - 1 - from the air filter housing intermediate flange - 2 -.
- Release the retaining tabs - arrows A - and tilt the left and right air ducts - 1 - toward the center of the vehicle - arrow B -.
- Remove the air guide tube from the charge air cooler by loosening the hose clamp - arrow -.
- Remove bolt - 1 -.
- Remove the air guide tube from the charge air cooler by loosening the hose clamp - 1 -.
- Push the lock downward - arrow A - and move the charge air cooler upward slightly in direction of - arrow B -.
• The installation location is shown with the bumper cover removed.
- Remove the charge air cooler upward from the radiator - arrows A - and push it in direction of - arrow B -.
- Pull the bumper cover forward and remove the charge air cooler off the left side downward - arrow C -.
Installing
Installation is performed in the reverse order of removal, noting the following:
• If there are small impressions on the fins. Refer to => [ Coolers, Condensers and Charge Air Coolers, Installing ] Coolers, Condensers and Charge Air Coolers, Installing.
• Tightening specifications, refer to => [ Charge Air Cooler Overview ] Charge Air Cooler Overview.
• The hose connections and charge air system hoses must be free of oil and grease before installing.
• Secure all hose connections with hose clamps appropriate for the model. Refer to the electronic parts catalog ETKA.
• To mount the charge hoses on their connectors securely, spray the bolts on the used clamps with rust remover before installing.
