Selector Lever Knob

Special tools, testers and auxiliary items required

Hose Clamp Pliers (V.A.G 1275)

Removing





- Move the selector lever into the "N" position.

Both the selector lever knob and the boot are removed.

- Remove the frame for the selector lever boot - A - - arrows -.

- Secure the lock button in its pulled-out position with a cable tie - arrow -, as illustrated.





- Fold the selector lever boot - 1 - upward and over the selector lever knob - 2 -.





- Open the clamp - arrow - and remove both the selector lever knob and boot without touching the lock button.

Installing





In order to install the selector lever knob, the lock button must be pulled out all the way and secured either with a cable tie - arrow - or with the assembly tool supplied with a new knob.

If the lock button was not secured, do not pull it out from the knob using mechanical aids. Insert a compressed air nozzle to the bottom of the knob and then push the lock button out using compressed air.

- Install the selector lever knob all the way onto the selector lever - make sure the lock button faces the driver.

When doing this, the knob must engage into the ring groove of the selector lever.

- Remove the cable tie or assembly aid, the lock button mechanism engages in the vertical groove on the selector lever.

- If necessary, press the lock button back into the selector lever knob.

- Clamp the knob - 2 - to the selector lever, using a new clamp - arrow -. Use the (V.A.G 1275).





- Install the selector lever boot frame - 1 - in the center console.
