Rear Coolant Pipe






Rear Coolant Pipe

Special tools, testers and auxiliary items required

Hose Clip Pliers (VAS 6362)

Removing

- Drain the coolant. Refer to => [ Cooling System, Draining and Filling ] Procedures.

- Remove the turbocharger. Refer to => [ Turbocharger ] Turbocharger.

- Remove the bolts - 1 and 3 -; then push the left coolant pipe on the back of the transmission downward.






The installation location is shown with the engine removed.

Ignore - 2 and 4 - and - arrows -.

- Remove the bolt - arrow - on the preliminary catalytic converter strap.






- Disconnect the electrical connector - 4 - on the engine coolant temperature (ECT) sensor (G62).






- Remove the bolts - 1 - and - 2 - and remove the rear coolant pipe from the exhaust gas recirculation cooler.

- Loosen the clamp - 3 - and remove the rear coolant pipe.

Installing

Install in reverse order of removal. Note the following:

Tightening specifications, refer to => [ Coolant Pipes Overview ] Coolant Pipes Overview.

Replace O-ring.

The hose connections as well as the air guide pipes and hoses must be free of oil and grease before installing.

Secure all hose connections with hose clamps appropriate for the model, refer to the Parts Catalog.

- Clean and/or smooth the sealing surfaces of the O-rings.

- Coat the O-ring with coolant and slide it onto the coolant pipe.

- Install the left coolant pipe to the back of the transmission. Refer to => [ Coolant Pipes Overview ] Coolant Pipes Overview.

- Install the turbocharger. Refer to => [ Turbocharger ] Turbocharger.

- Fill with coolant => [ Filling ] Procedures.
