Thermostat Housing: Service and Repair






Connecting Piece with Coolant Thermostat

Special tools, testers and auxiliary items required

Hose Clip Pliers (VAS 6362)

Removing

- Drain the coolant. Refer to => [ Cooling System, Draining and Filling ] Procedures.

- Remove the ribbed belt from the tensioning element. Refer to => [ Ribbed Belt ] Ribbed Belt.

- Remove the bolt - 1 - and disconnect the exhaust gas recirculation (EGR) coolant thermostat and connection from the connection.






Ignore - 2 and 3 -.

- Remove the coolant hose; to do this, loosen the hose clamp - 1 -.






- Remove the bolts - arrows - and the coolant thermostat with the connection.

Installing

Install in reverse order of removal. Note the following:

For the correct tightening specifications, refer to => [ Coolant Pump and Coolant Thermostat Overview ] Service and Repair.

Replace O-rings.

Secure all hose connections with the hose clamps appropriate for the model, refer to the Parts Catalog.

- Clean the sealing surface.

- Install the ribbed belt. Refer to => [ Ribbed Belt ] Ribbed Belt.

- Fill with coolant => [ Filling ] Procedures.
