Selector Mechanism







Selector Mechanism

Special tools, testers and auxiliary items required

Pry Lever - Rmv Outside Mirror (80 - 200)

Removing

- Remove the selector lever handle. Refer to => [ Selector Lever Handle with Front Locking Button ] Selector Lever Handle with Front Locking Button.

- Remove the center console trim. Refer to "Center Console".

- Remove the ashtray. Refer to "Center Console".

- Separate the electrical connector - 1 - from the function unit of the selector mechanism to the vehicle wire set.






Ignore - 2 -.

- Remove the air filter housing.

- Remove the selector lever cable - 1 - from the transmission selector lever using (80 - 200).






- Remove the bolts - 2 - from the cable mounting bracket.

Danger of damaging the selector lever cable.

Do not bend or kink the selector lever cable.

- Remove the noise insulation - 1 -. Refer to "Underbody Trim Panels and Heat Shields".






- Remove the exhaust system.

- Remove the heat shield - arrows -.






A second technician is required under the vehicle to remove the selector mechanism function unit.






- Remove the nuts - arrows - in the vehicle interior.

- Remove the selector mechanism function unit downward, together with the selector lever cable.

Danger of damaging the selector lever cable.

Do not bend or kink the selector lever cable.

Installing

Install in reverse order, paying attention to the following:

For the correct tightening specifications, refer to => [ Selector Mechanism Overview ] Selector Mechanism Overview.

- Install the heat shield.

- Install the exhaust system free of tension.

- Install the ashtray. Refer to "Center Console".

- Install the center console trim.

- Install the selector lever handle. Refer to => [ Selector Lever Handle with Front Locking Button ] Selector Lever Handle with Front Locking Button.

Danger of damaging the selector lever cable.

Do not bend or kink the selector lever cable.

- Adjust the selector lever cable. Refer to => [ Selector Lever Cable, Checking and Adjusting ] Selector Lever Cable, Checking and Adjusting.

- Check the selector mechanism and key lock. Refer to => [ Selector Mechanism and Ignition Key Removal Lock, Checking ] 02EA (S-Tronic) Transmission.

- Install the noise insulation. Refer to "Underbody Trim Panels and Heat Shields".

- Install the air filter housing.
