Transmission Mount: Service and Repair
Left and Right Transmission Mount and Transmission Support
Special tools, testers and auxiliary items required
• Engine/transmission jack (V.A.G 1383 A )
Removing
- Remove the front exhaust pipe on the affected side of the transmission.
- Remove Universal Support (V.A.G 1359/2) from Engine/Transmission Jack (V.A.G 1383 A).
- Position Engine/Transmission Jack (V.A.G 1383 A) thrust disc centered on lower frame boss - arrow - and support transmission from underneath.
- Remove left and right bolts - 3 - for the transmission mount - B - to the subframe - C -.
• Both transmission mounts must always be detached from the subframe.
- Remove bolts - 1 - and - 2 - and lower the subframe toward the rear.
- Slightly lower the transmission by the engine/transmission jack (V.A.G 1383 A) to make it easier to access the bolts - 1 - and - 2 -.
- Remove bolts - 2 -.
- Remove heat shield - B -.
Removing transmission mount - B -
- Remove bolt - 1 -.
- Remove transmission mount - B - and spacer plate - C -
• The spacer plate - C - is installed on certain versions.
Removing transmission support
- Remove bolts - 1 -.
- Remove transmission support - A - and mount.
Installing
Install in reverse order, paying attention to the following:
- Install transmission supports.
- Install subframe, observing tightening sequence..
• Attach the transmission mount to the subframe only when the subframe is completely installed.
- To prevent warping, align the transmission mount - B - and the spacer plate - C - one more time with the transmission support if necessary.
• The spacer plate - C - is installed on certain versions.
- Tighten all bolts to the tightening specification.
- Install exhaust system without tension.
Tightening specifications, transmission support and left and right heat shields
1. Bolt (quantity: 3) transmission support to transmission - 23 Nm
2. Bolt (quantity: 3) heat shield to transmission support - 10 Nm
Tightening specifications, left and right transmission mount
