Side Airbag
CAUTION!
Observe safety precautions for work on airbags
1 - Driver's And Passenger's Side Airbags
• Removing
- Disconnect the battery ground strap.
- Remove seat.
- Mount the Fixture For Seat Repair (VAS 6136) on the Engine And Transmission Holder (VAS 6095).
- Attach the front seat to the Fixture For Seat Repair (VAS 6136).
- Remove backrest adjustment wheel. Refer to => [ Backrest Adjusting Wheel ] Front Seats.
- Remove seat height adjustment handle. Refer to => [ Seat Height Adjustment Handle ] Front Seats.
- Remove side trim on sill side. Refer to => [ Side Trim, Sill Side ] Front Seats.
- Remove side trim on tunnel side. Refer to => [ Side Trim, Tunnel Side ] Front Seats.
- Remove backrest cover panel. Refer to => [ Backrest Cover ] Front Seats.
- Remove the backrest. Refer to => [ Front Backrest ] Front Seats.
- Pry off the clips - 9 - (Qty. 2).
- Open Velcro fasteners - 8 - (Qty. 2).
- Remove the side molding - 4 -.
- Remove the lower molding - 5 - (quantity: 3).
- Open the clip - 6 - on the cable guide - 7 -.
- Remove the airbag cable - 3 -.
- Remove nuts - 2 - (Qty. 2) of side airbag - 1 -.
- Remove side airbag - 1 -.
- Remove the clip -11- and carefully remove the airbag cable - 3 -.
• Installing
- To install, perform the steps used in removal in reverse order.
- Make sure the airbag cable - 3 - runs between the backrest and the plastic guide - 10 - and that no tension is being applied to the airbag cable - 3 -.
- Install the clip - 11 -.
- Switch on ignition.
CAUTION!
No one should be in vehicle when connecting battery.
- Connect battery ground strap.
2 - Nuts (Qty. 2)
• Tightening specification 5 Nm
• replace
3 - Airbag Cable
4 - Side Molding
5 - Lower Molding (quantity: 3)
6 - Clip
7 - Cable Guide
8 - Velcro Fasteners (Qty. 2)
9 - Clamps (Qty. 2)
• Commercially available according to the manufacturer instructions.
• Use only cushion clips.
10 - Plastic Guide
11 - Clip
• Follow the safety precautions after connecting the battery.
• If the Airbag Malfunction Indicator Lamp (MIL) ( K75) shows a malfunction after assembly, DTC memory must be checked with Vehicle Diagnostic, Testing and Information System ( VAS 5051 A), cleared and then rechecked.
Power Seat Side Airbag
CAUTION!

1 - Driver's and Passenger's Side Airbags
• Removing
- Disconnect the battery ground strap.
- Remove seat. Refer to => [ Seat ] Power Front Memory Seats.
- Mount the fixture for seat repair (VAS 6136) on the engine and transmission holder (VAS 6095).
- Attach the front seat to the fixture for seat repair (VAS 6136).
- Remove backrest cover panel => [ Backrest Cover ] Power Front Memory Seats.
- Loosen boot - 4 -.
- Remove wiring harness - 5 - upward.
- Remove nuts - 2 - (Qty. 2) of side airbag - 1 -.
- Pry out metal strap - 3 -.
- Remove side airbag - 1 -.
- Remove clip - 6 - and carefully remove wiring harness - 5 -.
• Installing
- To install, perform the steps used in removal in reverse order.
- Ensure that the wiring harness - 5 - runs between seat frame and plastic guide - 7 - and that no tension is applied to the cable.
- Secure clip - 6 -.
- Switch on ignition.
CAUTION!
No one should be in vehicle when connecting battery.
- Connect battery ground strap.
2 - Nuts (Qty. 2)
• Tightening specification 5 Nm
• Replace
3 - Metal tab
4 - Boot
5 - Wiring Harness
6 - Clip
7 - Plastic Guide
• Follow the safety precautions after connecting the battery.
