Differential Mount: Service and Repair






Rear Differential Mount

Special tools, testers and auxiliary items required

Assembly Tool (T40032)

Engine/Transmission Jack (V.A.G 1383 A )

Torque Wrench (V.A.G 1331)

Torque Wrench (V.A.G 1332)

Removing

- Place Engine/Transmission Jack (V.A.G 1383 A ) with Universal Transmission Support (1359/2 ) under rear final drive and secure rear final drive.

- Remove bolts from transmission supports and rear final drive - arrows -.





- Remove the driveshaft from rear final drive.

- Secure driveshaft to body with wire.

- Remove combi-bolts on differential mount.

- Remove rear crossmember/rear final drive bolts.

Lower rear final drive enough so that upper bolt can be removed.

- Remove rear crossmember downward.

- Use Assembly Tool (T40032) as shown in illustration and remove differential mount.





To provide a better illustration, subframe is shown removed.

Installing

- Align differential mount.

- Use Assembly Tool (T40032) as shown in illustration and remove differential mount - arrow -.





Installation device from front.

Bearing outer race flush with sleeve on subframe.

- Place rear crossmember on rear final drive and tighten combi-bolts

- Fasten rear crossmember with subframe.

- Fasten front transmission support to rear final drive

- Install driveshaft to rear final drive.

- Remove Engine/Transmission Jack (V.A.G 1383 A ).
