ATF Cooler and Pipes Cleaning

Special tools, testers and auxiliary items required

Old oil collecting and extracting device (VAG 1782 )

18 mm diameter hose

Compressed air gun, commercially available

Safety glasses

Work Procedure

Rules of cleanliness for working on transmissions. Refer to => [ Clean Working Conditions ] Clean Working Conditions.

- Before installing a replacement transmission, always blow into the Automatic Transmission Fluid (ATF) cooler and pipes with compressed air (max. 10 bar).

- Before installing a replacement transmission, always replace the auxiliary ATF filter.

If extremely dirty ATF flows out when blowing with compressed air, the ATF cooler and pipes must also be flushed with clean ATF.
