Power Steering Pump






Power Steering Pump

Special tools, testers and auxiliary items required

Hose clamps up to 25 mm dia. (3094)

Drift (3204)

Use Spanner Wrench (3212) or Water Pump Wrench (V.A.G 1590) if necessary

Torque Wrench (V.A.G 1331)

Support Tool (3369)

Removing

- Remove noise insulation.

- Tension ribbed belt.

- Remove ribbed belt from power steering pump belt pulley.

- Clamp off suction and return line using Hose clamps up to 25 mm dia. (3094).





- Position drip tray underneath.

- Remove suction line.

- Remove pressure hose, SW 22 mm.





- Remove pulley of power steering pump depending on version, counterhold using Spanner Wrench (3212) do to do.

- Remove connections - arrow - on back side of power steering pump.





- Remove power steering pump

Installing

Installation is in reverse order of removal, with special attention to the following:

Replace seals and gaskets.

Before installing new pump on intake side, fill hydraulic oil and turn by hand until oil escapes on pressure side.

Secure all hose connections using new hose clamps.

- Turn hub by hand until oil runs out of the pressure side.

- Fasten power steering pump to bracket.





- Install and fasten bolts - 1 -.

- Tighten bolt - arrow - on back side of power steering pump.





- Install new sealing rings onto banjo bolt.

- Tighten pressure hose banjo bolt.

- Install intake line. Installation location. Refer to => [ Power Steering System Assembly Overview ] Power Steering System Assembly Overview.

- Tighten power steering pump belt pulley.





- Install ribbed belt.

When installing ribbed belt, make sure it is seated correctly on pulleys.

- Install lock carrier. Refer to => Radiator Support Radiator Support

- Install bumper.

- Install noise insulation.

- Fill hydraulic oil.

- Start engine and check belt running.

- Check power steering fluid level. Refer to => [ Power Steering, Checking Fluid Level ] Testing and Inspection.

- Bleed steering system. Refer to => [ Steering System, Bleeding after Reconstructing ] Service and Repair

- Check steering system for leaks. Refer to => [ Steering System, Checking for Leaks ] Steering System, Checking for Leaks.
