02XA Transmission

Transmission Mount

Special tools, testers and auxiliary items required

• Engine/Transmission Jack (V.A.G 1383 A)

Removing

- If present, loosen quick-release connectors - 3 - and remove rear noise insulation - B -.





- Disconnect exhaust system at double clamps - arrows -.





- Raise transmission slightly using Engine/Transmission Jack (V.A.G 1383 A). Place wooden block - 1 - between transmission and transmission jack.





- First remove bolts - 3 - and then bolts - 2 - on tunnel crossmember.





- Lower transmission a little.

- Remove both nuts - 1 - and slide tunnel crossmember back slightly.

- Remove transmission mount - arrows -.





Installing

Install in reverse sequence; note the following points:

- Tighten the transmission mount to the transmission to 23 Nm - arrows -.





- Install tunnel crossmember on transmission mount - arrows -.





- Lift transmission until bolts - 2 - can be screwed in.





- Firs tighten bolts - 2 - and then bolts - 1 -.

• Always replace the bolts - 1 - and - 2 -.

- Align the exhaust system free-of-tension.
